Bonfire time!!!...March 20, 2010

It's finally starting to get nice and slightly warm...spring is here!!! And with the warm weather comes so many outdoor adventures. To start this year off, a bunch of us went near Utah Lake and had ourselves a little bonfire.
It was sooooo hot!!! This was the closest anyone got to the fire and it lasted for a couple of seconds. The rest of the roasting was done by simply leaving the hot dogs (or whatever was being roasted) near the fire and walking away and watching from a safe distance. Crazy!!
Jed, Bethany, and friend...sorry but I couldn't remember her name.
Craig and Kelsey just chillin...they make it look a lot colder than it really was...but it was definitely chilly!
And then here is me and Chris. Fun picture and first picture together...finally. :)

The Rescue...

It's crazy to think that just a few days ago I was having some of the worst days in a long time. Those few days ago seem like forever now. Thanks to good friends and great conversations, those lemons I seem to get every now and then are sweeter than ever! When you realize that there are people out there who really do care about you and want to make things better for you, you can't help but be grateful and happy. We have been talking a lot about "The Rescue" in various church activities. I try to think of myself as a pretty stable person, one that doesn't need to be rescued or helped too much. But through conversations and listening to different experiences I have come to find that I too need to be rescued. We all do actually. I'm just glad that there are people out there who are willing and not afraid to do so. I find myself wanting to be so completely independent in absolutely every way that I have a hard time accepting help when help is offered. But lately I have experienced a little bit of letting other people help and care. I love the feeling you feel when you come to realize that someone is offering their help for a reason...because they care and want the best for you. I feel so blessed when I think about life experiences in that way. Thank you to those who truly care!! You have become a shinning example in my life and have shown me what it means to really care...

When life gives you lemons...

I know I'm not the only who experiences bad days, but why do bad things always come in groups. When one things goes wrong it seems as though almost everything else that can does too. GRRR!!!! It always happens when I'm on my way to making my life a little better and trying to accomplish great things. I'm just glad that I have amazing people in my life that are there for me no matter what!!! This too shall pass...

Running Rewards...

These last couple of days my roommate, Anne, and I have been going running in the evening. I found that running on a track is completely different than running on a treadmill or using the elliptical. As we were running I was thinking "I'll be good I go to the gym every morning!" Oh boy! How wrong I was! I woke up this morning hurtin like crazy...in a good way of course. Well, Anne and I went running again and we were rockin!! (sore muscles and all) We told ourselves that if we ran 2 miles in 20 minutes or under we would reward ourselves with an amazingly juicy, greasy, cheesy Burger Supreme Cheeseburger. Yep...that kept us going strong!!! hehehe. I couldn't wait and it smelled sooooo good, but when I actually took a bit it was quite unsatisfying. It's been interesting to see the change in certain behaviors as I have been more diligent in working out!!!! I claim to be a recovered ice cream addict, which is a huge deal for an Elison. But it's true!!! I can walk down the ice cream isle and it doesn't even phase me. I don't hear those voices saying..."Pick me!! I taste soooo good! You know you want me!" It's a miracle. But I do treat myself every once in a while :) Moderation in ALL things...right?!

Gym Adventures

I never thought going to the gym would be such an adventure. You see the gym bums, the super skinny girls, and then every once in a while see things and can't help but laugh. This morning was one of those mornings. Virginia and I were done working out and were on our way to the sauna. We made a little pit stop to the lockers to put our things away and Virginia very cautiously rounded the corner. I asked her what was taking so long and she said she's just afraid that someday she will round that corner and see some naked person there. Well, there wasn't so we put our stuff in the locker and headed for the sauna. As soon as we came out of the locker area there she was...that naked person that Virginia was afraid to see. Oh the irony!!!! It was kinda awkward because she was headed to the showers and you'...weird, so weird...yet, sooo funny.

My Cute Lil' Nephew!!!!

Every aunt thinks their neices and nephews are the cutest...but really...look at this kid and tell me he's not cute! He loves playing the piano and he smiles all the time. He's just so much. Too bad he didn't live closer. Oh well...at least he's part of the family!!!

Finally Updated!!!!

So I didn't realize how completely behind I was on my blog til I wanted to show someone and the most recent post was last summer. It's been quiet the undertaking getting things back to where they should be.
Anywho...this year has started out pretty great. After spending a couple weeks a home over the holidays I was so ready to be back in Provo. I got things all in order for the semester, for Relief Society, and found a new found determination to do something amazing with my life. I love where I am in life right now.
  • I have a good job working at The Bridal Center where I sell and alter formal gowns and wedding dresses. I have learned so much and it's just been fun. My favorite are the prom girls...they are just so excited to be in a pretty dress and they tend to show a little more excitement and enthusiasm.
  • I live in Provo...for some people that doesn't seem like a good thing but i really do love it. Having mountains so close, having amazing friends, and learning how to drive in city traffic has been great. I never would have imagined living in Provo, UT but it's opened up a new chapter in my life-a good chapter at that. I've had some of the greatest experiences and have met some of the best people.
  • I have decided to go back to school...scary, crazy, exciting, fun!!!! I can't wait to start again. This time I totally have direction, sort of, and a 5 year plan. I think I have finally decided what I want to be when I grow up. We'll see if if all pans out. Wish me luck cuz I'm totally gonna need it

What more can I say...life is good!!!
